This is Book 2 in the Don Tillman Series. I read The Rosie Project in October 2015 and gave it a 4/5 star rating. I don’t have a review for you to read, though; that was before my blog.
What is it about?
For those of you who haven’t read The Rosie Project, it may be spoiling things to say that he marries Rosie at the end of the book. Although you probably could have guessed that based on the title, so I don’t feel too bad about it.
In book two Don and Rosie are living the happily ever after life in New York. That is, until Rosie discovers that she is pregnant. This comes as quite a shock to Don, who “shares characteristics with people who have Asperger’s”. Basically, he is super-duper smart, tries to avoid physical and emotional contact, and is awkward in most social situations.
He is not the only one to question his capability as a father.
Is it good?
I definitely enjoyed the Australian accents in this audiobook. That alone made the story worth listening to. *sigh*.
The story itself made me mad. It seems like the drama could mostly have been avoided if Rosie and Don just took the time to talk to each other about their worries, and tell each other what they expect from the other person. I mean, that’s what you or I would do with our loved ones, right? Right?!
Also, (being pregnant myself), I was very affronted by Rosie’s nonchalant treatment of her own pregnancy. Eating sushi, drinking alcohol, not scheduling an appointment with a OBGYN for the longest time… this lady is living life on the edge.
Overall, the book was okay. If you liked the first book then I think you should give the second a chance. If you haven’t read book one, then you probably have very little reason to read book two. Unless you really like Australian Accents.
Oh dang. I’m so glad you pointed out the part about her eating sushi while pregnant. I didn’t even know that would harm a baby. Had to Google it. I was going to blame my ignorance on being a guy, but that’s something everyone should know. Thank you!

Luckily my girlfriend knows about this. Just asked her. Whewwww.

Should I interpret that as she should be avoiding sushi? Congratulations?!

Oh nonono, hahaha. Not yet. Much more planning to do. I asked her if she knew sushi could harm babies, and she made it sound as if it’s common sense. I’m a dumbdumb 😛

I didn’t know it until my first baby. In fact I didn’t know that you are actually pregnant for like 10 months instead of 9. I was a dumb dumb, and it’s good that you are planning ahead.

It’s going well so far at least. Still, I dream of the days when they are all in college or independent and I can just “retire” and read read read.
I should probably stop making babies if that’s what I want… 😛

Unfortunately there is a surprising amount of things you “shouldn’t” do or eat while pregnant.
My husband won’t let me eat a salami sandwich without microwaving it first… but that ruins it! Stupid salmonella and other bacteria.
Then again, people having been making babies pretty well for our entire existence and some of those people probably had sushi or salami…
