Fantasy | Classic
1/5 Questing Beasts
What is it about?
The life and death of King Arthur.
Was it good?
It says right there on the cover that it’s the “World’s Greatest Fantasy Classic”. I read this first in freshman year of high school and I thought I remembered liking it, but I must have been mistaken because this book is just so… so… stupid. Literally ALL of the characters are dumb or silly or both. I only made it through the first two “books” this time before I released myself from the obligation to finish it.
I don’t think I have DNFed (Did not Finish) any books since I started book blogging a year and a half ago, so I don’t do it at the first sign of discomfort. Every time I picked up this book I came away from it grumpy and complaining. I finally realized that reading is for enjoyment. I spend enough time cleaning up poop (3 kids and a dog) that I don’t need to submerge myself in any literary pooh.
I sincerely hope I haven’t offended anyone with my rant. It’s just that King Arthur is supposed to be a story of hope and valor and this book destroyed that for me.
