- Kingdom of Ash – COMES OUT ON THE 23rd, Y’ALL!!
What is it about?
Both of these books take place over the same period but follow different characters. So, for those of you who read Empire of Storms and are wondering WTF “happened to Chaol?” He’s what Tower of Dawn is all about.
Empire of Storms follows Aelin and her “cadre” (Rowan, Aedion, Lysandra) as they stir up trouble and try to rally their allies. This book was a non-stop adventure and aside from the secret keeping and the unbelievable fairy love making, the story was incredible. I stayed up nearly to midnight two nights in a row, and I haven’t stayed up that late since New Years Eve. Totally. Worth. It.
Warning… that book ends on a cliff hanger and I was NOT expecting Tower of Dawn not to soothe my anxiety AT ALL. I didn’t realize it was going to be just a whole “meanwhile in the Southern continent….” because I was too excited to read the book description and I didn’t want to know any spoilers anyways. So at first I was disappointed, and then I was angry, and then I freaking loved it. I again stayed up until midnight. This is becoming a bad habit.
The “epic conclusion” (goodread’s words, not mine) comes out on the 23rd and I have it pre-ordered so maybe I will let myself stay up one more time. Although, I must admit, I am paranoid enough that I worry my husband and kids will grow disenchanted with me if I’m cranky all the time.
The good news is that my husband is finally taking his paternity leave, or “father-child bonding leave” and now is the best time for me to sleep until noon. (Except for the fact that he doesn’t have any breastmilk and the other kids will barge into the room and put my stack of books in their “delivery truck” ONE. AT. A. TIME.)
Was it good?
Umm… yes. They were both excellent. Did I not make that clear? I better go bed.
