Five Quotes Friday

This is where I share my favorite quotes from books that I have read recently or am currently reading.

How do you think I’m feeling? Like I’m already dead but my heart keeps pumping blood around my body just to torment me.”

The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne

This was a hard book to read. It was very heart breaking but it does have an element of hope to it. I didn’t really connect with the main character but the book was rated Book of the Year in 2017 by the Book of the Month club.

Do not flatter yourself, my child. There is nothing at all special about you. You are simply one more piece, one more pawn in a far grander scheme.”

Thieves’ Honor by David Combs

These last two quotes are very depressing. I wonder if I was drawn to them in a bad mood. And am I still in bad mood now?

Galen, I swear I’d shake your hand if I didn’t believe that I’d have to count my fingers afterward.

Thieves’ Honor by David Combs

Galen is the thief in Thieves’ Honor. This is just an example of the amusing banter between the characters and that particular tidbit made me laugh.

Never be so focused on picking a lock that you forget kicking down the door is also an option.

Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence

This is very good advice, don’t you think?

These are moments we will never regret. Even better, these are moments our kids will treasure for the rest of their lives.

The Read Aloud Family by Sarah Mackenzie

When it comes to reading to your children, no one will ever say “Gee, I wish I had done less of that” with them.
