I only managed to read THREE “adult” books this month!

July Reading

All of those were very enjoyable and Wild Child was very eye opening and motivating. I definitely need to have increased nature play as part of our homeschool goals.

Read Aloud Book of the Month

The kids have been obsessed with a book called Zoey and Sassafras: Marshmallows and Dragons.

It’s a cute chapter book about using simple science experiments to figure out how to help magical creatures. I think we must have read it at least 5 times in the last month and they spend most days building Zoey’s “House” or being a “Baby” Zoey. (I don’t know why, but the kids are the baby version of anything and everything these days! )

My excuses

We went on an amazing and beautiful vacation to my hometown in Germany for two weeks. It was really lovely getting to see my extended family and also doing lots of fun sightseeing and hiking. Suprisingly. though, I read 2/3 books while we were traveling.

The rest of the time has been spent just being a mom and trying to homeschool. My youngest, at 15 months old, is pretty much down to one nap a day and during that time I try to get the older boys (5 & 3) to at least do something vaguely educational.

I honestly just can’t find the time to read during the day anymore. Which is also why I haven’t been updating very much. I am grateful for the times I do have. A day without reading leaves me feeling incomplete!
