And now for the kids….

My kids and I read a lot of books together. Some of the books are recommended by their homeschool curriculum and others are just for fun. Here are the most memorable ones from the last few weeks:

Firebird by Jane Yolen

This is a retelling of the ballet by Stravinksy. This book is really unique because it has both the picture book ideas to it as well as depictions of what the ballet might look like for each page. It’s really interesting, and the bad wizard is really creepy. Both my 5 and 3 year old have asked to read it several times.

Mrs. Piggle Wiggle by Betty MacDonald

We listened to this middle-grade novel as an audiobook in the car and they immediately wanted to continue the series.(We are listening to book 2 now.) Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle is a lovely old lady who loves kids and knows how to treat any of their behavioral issues with silly but effective treatments. It’s quite silly but it is fun to listen to.

When I get in the car I ask if they want to listen to music or Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, and both the 5 and 3 year old shout “PIGGLE WIGGLE!!!” and the 1 year old shouts “AHHH!” which probably means the same thing.
